Reflection of the “Dropout” TV Show: How People Are Easily Deceived.

Today, my daughter began watching the TV series The Dropout, on a colleague’s recommendation. The Dropout is a drama series that chronicles the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and her blood-testing startup Theranos, exposing ambition, deception, and the consequences of a Silicon Valley scandal.

Three years ago, I published an article titled Be Aware of the ‘Fake It Until You Make It’ Mindset in Test Automation and CI/CD, featuring a photo of Elizabeth Holmes as the header image.

The business of Theranos is testing ( testing blood), somehow she managed faking so long, and grew big. Curious about the full story behind this notorious Silicon Valley fraud, I watched it together with my daughter.

But my interests might be different from others.

1. Whether Elizabeth Holmes can really speak Chinese?

Years before the Theranos fraud was exposed, I had already heard of Elizabeth Holmes. At least two former colleagues, from different workplaces, were talking excitedly about her as a role…
