Reflection on JetBrains’ “State of Software Quality Report 2024” Report
The importance of Test Automation!
In 2025–01, JetBrains published the “State of Software Quality Report 2024” report.
It is freely available; you just need to supply an email to get it.
Even though the survey audience includes “QA engineers and other technical professionals”, as it is from JetBrains, its focus is heavily software developer-focused (~80%).
Let’s see some findings.
The top three are all about test automation, even in this heavily developer-focused report.
Long-time readers know I’ve emphasized this in many articles. For software company owners — whether big or small — your NO.1 priority should be implementing real test automation, which is often neglected. Sadly, only wise IT executives recognize its importance. (By the way, this is the edge that solopreneurs, like me, have, dedicated ~70% of all SDLC on E2E UI Test Automation, in return, gain 10X+ productivity).
